First Timers’ Guide

This information relates to vacations between December – March.

The vacation is booked and now all that’s left to do is pack.  We have put together a list below detailing a few essentials.  Be sure to add your own list of things you want to bring with you.  Keep in mind some items can be purchased at Devil’s Head’s Pro Shop.

What to Bring

  • Ski/Snowboard Equipment (Rental equipment is available at Devil’s Head Resort)
  • Shoes/Boots with Good Traction
  • Ski Jacket/Ski Pants
  • Neck Gaiter/Hat/Gloves
  • Walkie Talkies
  • Mp3 Player/Walkman
  • Warm Layers-Turtle Neck/Long Underwear
  • Lip Balm/Personals
  • Pain Relievers
  • Camera/Video Camera
  • Swimsuit
  • Swim Goggles
  • Swim Diapers (Approved swim diapers are required in our pool and hot tubs for all children who have not been toilet trained)

Dressing for Outdoor Fun

The Right Clothes

We recommend a warm jacket, ski pants, warm sweater or fleece, insulated mittens (no knitted mittens for children), heavy winter socks, goggles, a neck gaiter (not a scarf) and a hat that covers the ears.  Do not use loose clothing that can get caught on the lifts.  For children, as well as adults, the best way to stay warm is to dress in layers.

Ski Boots that Fit

Check the fit of your child’s boot before skiing.  Here’s how:  Pull the boot’s inner lining and slip it on your child’s foot.  It should fit like a walking shoe, without pinching (which can lead to cold feet) or, if it’s too loose, the boot could fall off.  The clothing items above can be purchased at the Devil’s Head Pro Shop.
